A website for a small business: 8 things it must not be missing

A good small-business website doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated. But it must quickly answer three questions: what you do, what it costs and how to book. Go through the checklist.

A website for a small business: 8 things it must not be missing

A customer who finds you on Google decides within a few seconds. If they don’t find what they are looking for, they go to a competitor. Your own website doesn’t need dozens of subpages — it just has to be clear and let people book straight away.

Checklist: what your website must have

  1. A clear headline — “Plumber in Brno and surroundings” says more than “Welcome to our website”.
  2. Services with indicative prices — even “from 590 CZK” is better than nothing. People don’t want to call just to ask about the price.
  3. A Book now button — visible at the top, not hidden in the footer.
  4. One-click contact — a phone number that can be dialled straight from a mobile.
  5. Where you operate — a map or a list of towns. It helps with search too.
  6. Photos of your work — real ones, not stock photos. Before and after works best.
  7. Customer reviews — two or three specific sentences from people with first names.
  8. Speed on mobile — most visitors come from a phone.

Don’t forget about Google

  • Every page has its own title and a short description (meta description).
  • Use the words people search for in your texts: your trade + your town.
  • Connect your website to your business profile on Google Maps.
Tip: The best website copy is written by noting down the ten questions customers ask you most often — and answering them.

How to do it in Homeearly

Your website is built from the information you already have in the system — services, prices, contacts and the booking calendar. Pick a style for your trade, add photos and publish. Details on the Business website page.
